Sister Stella discusses her family life and her decision to enter St. Rose Convent in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She details her life as a nun, her work as a teacher, and her experience as a missionary in China beginning in the 1930s. She describes her membership in the Franciscan sisterhood, her contact with the Chinese people and society, and her time spent as a prisoner of war in a Shanghai concentration camp following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She also discusses her retirement from mission work.
